Fierce Side to Side Mobility Flow
with Ellie Barbeau
Welcome Graceful Warrior! This class focuses on fierce side-to-side mobility, culminating in a final flow that incorporates several foundational sword movements. The video breaks down the following moves: • The Cauldron Stir: This move starts with a reverse outside flower, where the tip of the sword points behind you. The sword is then brought into a reverse position with the tip facing the ground. You "stir" a big circle in front of you, with the palm of the sword hand facing out. As the sword returns to the top of the cauldron, it shifts diagonally up overhead. Another circle is created overhead to "summon power," followed by a diagonal slice down to the side, then back to a regular overhead flower, and finally a slice down to the starting side. • Roving Ninja: Starting in Warrior 1, the back of the sword hand faces out as you lean down into your leg, bringing the sword parallel with the ground. The opposite hand can come to the wrist as you shift your weight. The sword is lifted up overhead in an outside flower, returning to the starting position. The video also demonstrates reversing this motion. • Half Flower Ninja: This move is presented as a warm-up, done five times on each side. • Grip Switch and Final Slice: This section introduces a change in the sword grip to reverse the blade, bringing it in line with the back of the arm. This is followed by bringing the arm up into an overhead flower, concluding with a lunge into the opposite knee, opening the arm out, and slicing down with the sword. This move is also featured in the Celaena Sardothian flow. Ellie guides you through practicing each move before combining them into a full three-part flow, practiced three times on the right side and three times on the left.
