Day 05: The Full Flower
with Sabina Storberg
from The Beginner Playlist (Start Here) , and Sword Mastery Basics - Deluxe Edition
Hello, and welcome to Day 5 of our Deluxe Edition of Sword Mastery! Today we're going to be learning the Full Flower. The Full Flower combines two separate movements: the Half Flower and the Infinity Symbol. Before attempting the Full Flower, you need to be comfortable with the Half Flower on both sides. We'll start by practicing the Infinity Symbol, also referred to as the Figure 8 or Reverse Figure 8. You'll practice this movement 20 times on both hands. During the Infinity Symbol, your sword will draw a big figure eight in front of you. We'll focus only on the hand and sword movement initially, but remember that for a graceful flowy Full Flower, you will need to engage your entire body. Next, we'll combine the Half Flower and the Infinity Symbol. The flow involves: • Performing the Outside Flower. • Bringing the sword behind you for a block. • Visualizing the middle of the figure eight and drawing the figure eight on the right side, then the left side. • Lifting up with a big arch to come back to the middle. We of course practice on both the right side and left side and we challenge you to practice the Full Flower a thousand times at home.
