DAY 1. I’m 43 and have never done yoga or anything related. I’ve always had a very sedentary life, as much as a mom of four could😆. Newly separated, and after taking care of everyone around me my whole life, this is the start of a new life in which I take care of ME.
This is a public announcement of my commitment. A commitment to put my mental and physical health first.
I’ll comment on every video with the day I’m on and how I feel. I’ve been a very heavy smoker, so this small practice had me gasping for air. I quit a month ago. I was lost, so lost, with my left and right hands, where to put my legs, and how to tilt my hips, but I will keep going. I know resilience is the greatest attribute I need to work on.
Please like this comment to give me the motivation to stand up from the couch 🥲😅🤣 AG

Agreed! I’m trying super hard to not give up without the mirror image instruction 🙈 just keep telling myself to do my best. My biggest fear is that I’m learning the technique wrong because my brain is doing it backwards 😅

I think as an absolute beginner that has never done yoga, this is going to take me more like 10 weeks than 10 days so I can practice each lesson and gain some flexibility!

Ten days of lessons can last even one year with dedicated practice :) Ten weeks for these "basics" is a great way to think about it! Consistency is the most important thing!

It would be helpful if the studio were available as an app or to cast to a television. A larger screen would be easier to see while we practice. In addition, we could use a mirror to check our positions.

I started kick boxing at the age of 50. I am turning 60 shortly and started sword yoga when the sword arrived a week ago. I ordered the sword from weaponup's link in Canada (no the sword is not like the one used on weapon up, it's all black, but you do feel it in the arms, shoulders).
Recently, I visited my 6 and 3 year old Grandsons who like all boys love swords. We took their foam pirate play swords and to my amazement I had their full attention and together we did sword yoga, ok..they thought Nan was teaching them how to fight with swords like a Ninja 😆.
Personally, I am loving sword yoga, not too sure if I am doing everything correctly, but it's a process and like everything practice. Bare feet, a sword, membership and learn something new that benefits wellbeing.

I'm a paramedic and Covid hit my nerve system causing fibromyalgia POTS and Trigeminal Neuralgia. On Nov 4th I had a form of brain surgery to not cure me but to try and lessen the amount of pain I experience with flare up. I've lost so much muscle mass and gain so much weight. I've been cleared by my surgeon to start exercising, I had physical therapy for a few months. I'm now ready to get my health back and figure out a new normal. For those of us on the front line during the pandemic we have been forgotten about already even as we still battle our own demons. There was no after care plan for us, no safety net. I suffer long haul Covid. I'm ready to get back to Baddie I was pre Vid. Let's do this!! As I read all these stories I'm touched and motivated. I love it

I'm 41 with a toddler. Haven't had a regular work out routine since I became a mom, and I'm feeling it. I saw you on IG and realized I having a sword would motivate me better to work out! I just signed up and have ordered my sword. But it won't come until the end of March or April :´( So for this session I used a yardstick :D I'm very exited for the sword to arrive and to continue this training!

This is so much fun. I come from a very athletic background (fencer, dancer, swimmer) and I picked up a pair of sticks for the Filipino martial arts when I was in the Philippines and I'm using one of those until my sword arrives. I am loving the blend of technical and cultural elements in this!

I'm 39 and I'm a bellydancer in re-training (besides my everyday job). Moving overseas with my daughter from Chile to Scotland for studies and then work made me lose my training, and it's been so hard to get back my technique and body control. I've been getting sick a lot lately, which kind of tells my body is shouting for help. I'm also an ADHDer, so keeping routines on my own without the right motivation is extremely hard. I've been trying to train sword bellydance lately, and I've been following weaponup on Instagram for months. I'm really excited to be starting this!! I wish I could do this at a studio with a mirror and a high ceiling. My ceiling is so low I can't hold the sword up

I'm going to be doing this tomorrow. I'm doing another program simultaneously and coming off a back injury. One is for mobility and this one is for the fun and building fluid movements. I'm very excited to start and look forward to seeing some positive changes. Yoga is no joke. I used to think it looked super easy but the way it challenges your muscles is intense when you're new to it, and there are always ways to challenge your body.

Coming from weight lifting preCovid to having major health issues after Covid: Cancer, elbow replacement, hysterectomy, and finally had a breast reduction due to falling a lot and severe back pain (scoliosis) now I want to go back to being normal. Sword arrived yesterday and I’m now signed up and ready!! Let’s go I’m 56 and feel much younger now of course! I feel the muscle tightness and tension but I’m ready for anything!

I'm 56 and wishing this was a thing when I was younger. This is my second day of doing the first video. I'm all for muscle memory and want to make sure I have it down before moving on. I feel like I kept leaning the wrong way.

As a fantasy reader I loved this idea from the start. I used to be very active and fit when I was young, however at 57, I am finding out I am not as fit as I think I am. I am going to go take this one day at a time until it becomes second nature and I at least have some resemblance of my flexibility and stamina back.

Can we please get controls to rewind in like 30 second increments or so? The media player isn't user friendly. It's hard to see what you're doing without pausing to look at your hands and feet and practice teplicating it, but it takes a bit before the media player will even pause, and trying to drag that teeny bar with your finger on a touch screen to go back and see it again is just miserable. The actual practice I love, but this media player far less so. I even checked across different browsers, hoping it was just that, but it wasn't. I don't want to have to spend most of my time fussing with playback instead of doing the good part.

Hi! Completely understand you don't want to fuss with the player while practicing. We have the little 10 number there where you can playback and play forward by ten second increments! We can look into the 30s though! Hope this helps for now!

Day 1! I am loving reading people's stories, so I'm going to share as well :) I am 38 in Australia, two small kids. I've been doing yoga for several years, but honestly I just read so many fantasy novels with kick-ass women saving the world, I wanted to feel that strong and badass, so I am taking my practice up to the next level! My kids are so excited to see it. I ordered a bamboo sword from a Tai Chi school in Melbourne and have begun practising with it. Just finished this video and it was really easy to follow. Going to practise these moves for a while and try for Day 2 tomorrow!

Using my broad sword until my sword arrives. I would love a textbook for form with directions and step by step pictures. Also, a beginner beginner actual program that starts day 1-30 just focusing on daily drills and slowly increasing skill and flow. I struggle with receiving a tutorial and being told to practice it. I need an actual structured workout plan.
