with Sabina Storberg

from Sword Mastery Basics - Deluxe Edition , and The Beginner Playlist (Start Here)

Welcome to Day 15 of our Sword Mastery Basics! Today we will play with the idea of tempo using our full flower as an example. In todays session we will practice: Slow Full Flower - Five repetitions of the full flower in slow motion Fast Full Flower - Five repetitions of the full flower as fast as you can Slow/Fast Full Flower - Five repetitions of the full flower with the half flower slowly and the infinity symbol as fast as you can! Of course we will do both the right and left side. Try these for all the flowers, practicing with tempo, once you feel comfortable with the technique!

I get the full flower is a figure of 8 but what’s throwing me off on the fast ones is the extra flourishes of the sword you’re doing in between the figure 8. I can’t get it

I especially enjoyed this brief training, Sabina! The variation of tempo as one goes through a flow adds a quality that implies greater control and adds elegance and the essence of dance to one's overall movement. Based on what I've seen in the library, I'm planning to move on to Ellie's beginner series from here with the aim of working up to Yasmine's story flows and the Black Swan series. If I may ask, which flows or videos would you recommend that especially lend themselves to increasing flexibility and the gradual perfection of the more difficult postures? I tend to struggle a bit with sitting on my heel, for example, and I'd like to improve my ninja pose by being able to go deeper into it, as well as to hold the horse stance more effortlessly in a lower stance. Obviously, simply holding these stances for longer periods through slow, elegant motion as in Tai Chi might do it, but I'd like to be able to move into the full sword flows as soon as I can without having to adjust my stance due to the stiffness in my back and hamstrings that comes from many years filled with working in front of a computer.
Thank you so much for sharing the gift of the WeaponUp program! This discipline goes far beyond the mere swinging of a sword, yoga postures, and martial arts movements. In sharing the knowledge you gained in becoming a Sword Mistress, you have set a challenge before every woman who embraces this practice to take a journey of empowerment in becoming a "graceful warrior." I appreciate you!! :)
