Follicular: Learning

Hello and welcome to the Follicular Phase of the Cycle. Today is all about learning. This class is focused on the follicular phase of your cycle, a time when you might be feeling curious, playful, and wanting to have fun. We will be learning something new to activate our brain and get us into that fun learning phase. What to Expect: • Breathing and Warm-up: We will begin with three deep grounding breaths. Our warm-up includes an opening exercise while looking at the tip of the sword, a "zigzag position with our legs", an outside flower with the right hand, and an "overhead flower forward fold". We will also perform five chest circles in each direction instead of cat-cow, and breathe for five deep breaths in extended puppy pose before moving to child's pose. • Stretches and Holds: We will move into a kneeling warrior pose, holding for five deep breaths with hands at the chest. This section includes stretches and binds, such as an inversion and bind behind the back on both the right and left sides. We will also find ourselves in an open straddle, a deep squat, and a wide-legged forward fold with the sword. • The Learning Flow: The main part of the session is a new flow that utilizes a changing of hand. We will practice elements like the "twist lift" and catch, and the "outside flower and catch". We then combine these into a sequence. • Final Flow Sequence: Finally, we will add legs to the routine, moving into a complex flow that incorporates ninja and reverse warrior poses. This sequence involves switching between hands using a half flower ninja movement. This is a new type of flow that switches between hands. • The session finishes with a side body stretch.
