Double Sword Day 5: Full Flower
with Sabina Storberg
from Mastering the Double Sword
Welcome to the Double Sword Full Flower! This move is another mouthful to say, and it can be a bit of a tricky brain teaser as you coordinate both hands. We will be flowing continuously from side to side, finding a rhythm that allows you to master this advanced technique. • What You’ll Learn: We are mastering the full flower with double swords. This move builds upon the half flower by adding an outside flower motion to the sequence. You will learn to transition smoothly from a half flower into the full flower rotation. • The Foundation: Success with this move requires you to be super comfortable and familiar with your basic half flower. It essentially consists of performing two half flowers consecutively back-to-back on the left and right sides. • What to Expect: We’ll start by warming up with 10 repetitions of the half flower on the right side and 10 on the left. Then, we will practice transitioning from the double half flower into the full flower for a set of 20 repetitions. We'll finish with a final set of five to lock in the movement. • Pro Tip: This move is a significant mental challenge. The moment you break your concentration, the movements can become jumbled, so try to allow yourself to enter a total state of flow. Grab your swords and let’s master the continuous flow of the full flower together!
