Double Sword Day 7: Consolidated Practice
with Sabina Storberg
from Mastering the Double Sword
Welcome to this consolidated practice session for double swords! In this video, we review all the double sword flowers and mini drills covered in this series to refine your technique and build endurance. • What You’ll Learn: This session focuses on integrating various double sword techniques, including double outside flowers (both forward and reverse), figure eights, and overhead flowers. You will also practice advanced transitions like the half double sword flower and the double fold. • The Foundation: While the double sword practice introduces unique upper body movements and specific flowers, your lower body remains grounded in the standard patterns used throughout the weapon practice, such as the ninja warrior figure eight. • What to Expect: The class is structured as a high-repetition workout, starting with 20 double outside flowers and 20 reverse flowers. We then move through 40 figure eights and 40 overhead flowers, alternating which hand is on top. The session concludes with sets of side-to-side transitions, half flowers, and upper body drills like the overhead flower strike. • Pro Tip: You will likely feel the intensity in your wrists and arms during the overhead flowers; take deep breaths and don't hesitate to shake out your arms between sets to maintain fluidity. Grab your swords and let's bring all these movements together in one fluid practice!
