This is the expanded and refined evolution of our original Ten Days to Sword Mastery, created as the clearest and most complete starting point if you’ve never held a sword before—or if you want to truly understand what you’re practicing.
In this 15-day series, we study the foundational mechanics of the Chinese straight sword (jian) as they are traditionally approached in kung fu and tai chi. These are not new or invented movements. Rather, this program offers a structured, accessible framework for understanding classical straight sword basics and how they translate into the WeaponUp practice.
We begin on day one with foundational stances, grips, posture, and alignment. As the days progress, you’ll learn essential sword pathways and techniques—including the full family of flowers used throughout WeaponUp, as well as signature elements like the snake charmer and the iconic whoosh sound. By day fifteen, you’ll be working with tempo, continuity, and fluid transitions—moving with clarity, control, and grace.
This series is about precision before expression. It gives you the technical literacy of the jian so that, as you move deeper into WeaponUp classes, the sword feels like a natural extension of your body rather than a prop in your hand.
Meet us on the mat. This is where sword mastery basics begin.
