Confidence in Motion
With Sabina Storberg
This class focuses on both elegance and grace, as well as power, to cultivate what Sabina calls "confidence in motion". You will focus on developing power and grace through a series of movements, including goddess pose, sword movements, lunges, and kicks. We also emphasize the importance of upper body movements to improve posture and confidence.
Class Flow Outline:
- Goddess Pose and Deep Breaths: Begin in Goddess Pose, holding with the sword on the right side for five deep breaths, then switching to the left side for five breaths.
- Upper Body Focus for Posture: Point feet forward. Focus on the upper body and posture. Circle the left arm up and under, make sword fingers, and follow the two fingers with the eyes as you extend outwards. Add the sword movement: sword goes in, and you look out, repeating to speed up the pace. Repeat the opposite movement.
- Right and Left Side Lunges and Points: Lunge on the right side, lift up, lunge, and point (extending fingers out while kneeling down). Repeat this five times, opening the chest. Repeat on the left side.
- Kickbacks/Strikes: Kick back with the left leg while striking with the right. Repeat the lift, kick up, and bring it in five times, trying to gently come back down. Repeat the kick movement on the other side five times.
- Knee-Down Sword Swipes: Swipe the sword up, bringing the knee down. Bring it to the middle, swipe, extending the free hand up and out. Repeat five times on the first side, and then five times on the opposite side.
- Transitioning Knee Swipes: Add to the previous move: swipe to one side and then swipe to the other side, with both knees down on the ground. Repeat 10 times, then repeat 10 times on the other side.
- Second Upper Body Set and Final Swipes: Return to Goddess Pose. Repeat the upper body movement, bringing the sword in and extending the hand outwards. Repeat the final swipe and strike movements on both sides.
- Conclusion: End with deep breaths, exhalation, and release
Enjoy this confidence in motion!
