The class introduces three standard lower body movements:
- Hip Rotation Infinity Symbol (Figure Eight): This movement is practiced with the feet together, and then with a wider stance, shifting the weight. For the larger figure eight, bend one knee, twist and turn the torso, and then switch to the other side. Keep your feet in the same position; do not shift them around.
- Circles Up and Down: This involves shifting weight from one side to the other, moving from a deep ninja position in a large circle, and then practicing with very small circles.
- Side-to-Side Movement (Twist): In this movement, your feet remain in the same place. You bend a knee down, and your body moves to the side.
- These three hip movements are seen in different variations across many flows. We also incorporate these lower body movements with upper body techniques, such as the infinity symbol and half flowers.
Weight shifting is important in the practice, but if you have pain in your ankles, knees, or lower back, we advise either coming out of the movement or performing it in a more gentle or modified way.
