In this class, you will practice a variety of sword moves, including:
- The Cauldron Stir: This move starts with the sword in a reverse flower. You will stir a big circle with the blade tip, bring it overhead to finish a figure-eight circle, and then strike down with a lunge after both hands meet the sword overhead.
- Diagonal Strike: Starting with the same intro as the Cauldron Stir, you will reverse the sword as you bring it up and open out, striking the blade diagonally in front of you. Ellie advises a loose grip and encourages you to make it quick, listening for the blade cutting through the air.
- Celaena Sardothian Inspired Move: This new move, inspired by the "Celaeina Sardothian" flow, brings the sword into a reverse grip. You begin with a normal outside flower, then flip the blade when the tip is behind you so your first two fingers are snug on the hilt. You finish by bringing the sword up overhead and striking down out to the side.
- Feyra Inspired Move: Starting in a lunge, move your body into a Warrior 2 line with the sword behind you. Bring the sword forward, slide it back like knocking an arrow, flip the blade so your palm faces up, and bring it forward again. For the final five repetitions on each side, move your body back with the motion of the sword.
- Violet Sorrengail Flow Move: Find a low side lunge with the sword in an overhead blocking position. Strike forward with the palm holding the sword facing up, then pull back with the palm facing out.
Ellie emphasises a few key points for success: keep your chin up, maintain a loose grip, and remember that many of the movements are "all in the wrists". You will complete 10 repetitions on both sides for this last move.
